Shaolin Arts 2008 Cookie Tournament

Dec 13, 2008

Each year, the Arizona schools of Shaolin Arts hold a cookie tournament where the students can show off their material. The cost to enter is one plate of cookies. The purse—cookies! Now it is becoming clear to some of you why Brad enjoys kung fu so much. This year's tournament was held in the parking lot of the Glendale studio. This was his first year participating.

The categories of competition were open hand forms, weapon forms, tai chi sticky hands, sparing, and ground fighting. Brad participated in the weapon form competition, demonstrating his newly completed staff form. He was unfortunately eliminated in the first round of the sparring, but he won third place for his open hand form, "Dragon Breathes Fire IV."

Our good friends Jim and Jill participated too. As an instructor, Jim judged several of the competitions, and Jill performed one of her open hand forms.
